The Alpine ibex is a species of wild goat that lives in the mountains of the European Alps. It is a sexually dimorphic species with larger males who carry larger, curved horns.

James Rowland Ward (1848–1912) was a world famous British taxidermist and founder of the firm Rowland Ward Limited of Piccadilly, London. The company specialised in and was renowned for its taxidermy work on birds and big-game trophies.


Overall good antique condition.
The right horn has been professionally restored (see photo).
The shield bears the signature R.W. engraving along with the taxidermist’s labels.
